Privacy and site search
How hosting, browser search and your optional analytics choice affect your information.
Who runs this website
Daniel Jackson publishes HowDoesAIDoThat at howdoesaidothat.tech. For privacy questions or requests concerning your information, contact daniel@djacksondesign.com. This notice describes the website's hosting, search and optional analytics. Last updated: 11 October 2026.
Visiting and searching
The site is hosted by Hostinger. Requests needed to display pages and download files reach the hosting service, which may record technical access information such as your IP address, browser details, requested URL and request time for operation and security. Hostinger describes its handling of information in its privacy policy. We do not specify a hosting-log retention period that has not been confirmed for this service.
Our fonts and website images are served from this site. There is no account system, newsletter sign-up, upload form or payment checkout. The search filters the site's catalogue in your browser; it does not send your query to an AI model.
Search URLs
Submitting the homepage search places your query in the search page URL. That initial request may appear in hosting access logs and browser history. Do not enter private information in a search query. Filter changes after the page loads happen inside your browser.
Optional Google Analytics
You can choose whether to allow Google Analytics to help us understand which pages people visit. Its Google code loads only after you explicitly choose Allow. Choosing Reject, or making no choice, keeps Google Analytics from loading. Reading guides, searching and downloading files do not require analytics consent.
If you allow it, Google Analytics may use cookies and browser identifiers and receive information about page visits, your device/browser and general location. We exclude the site's search pages and any page URL containing query parameters from analytics entirely, even when you have allowed analytics. Google Analytics does not load on those pages, and we do not track your site-search queries.
On other pages, the page and referrer URLs supplied by our analytics tag omit query strings and fragments. Google's Enhanced Measurement is switched off, and data-redaction safeguards are configured. Our tag disables Google Signals and advertising personalisation signals. These controls do not make all information Google processes anonymous.
The lawful basis for optional analytics is your consent. The property's user and event data retention settings are both two months, with resetting on new activity disabled. These controls do not set the retention of all aggregated standard reports. Our Google tag sets a 90-day cookie expiry; you can clear cookies sooner in your browser. Read Google's retention explanation.
Read Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Hosting and analytics providers may process data outside the UK. Their policies explain their locations and transfer safeguards; contact Daniel for information about this site's provider arrangements. Google also provides an Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Your privacy choice
We store the versioned Allow or Reject choice in your browser's local storage for 90 days. This small preference lets the site remember your choice; it is not an analytics identifier. A changed consent version or an expired choice requires a fresh decision. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice cannot persist between visits.
Use Privacy settings in the footer to change your choice or withdraw permission. Withdrawal stops future analytics loading; it cannot erase information already received by Google. You can also use your browser's controls to clear local storage and any remaining cookies.
Links to other websites
Provider/source links open external destinations with their own privacy practices. Any account, upload or payment on those sites is separate from this publication. In particular, review a provider's current terms before uploading personal or private footage.
Emailing us
If you email Daniel, your email address and message are used to respond to your enquiry or correction. Email is separate from the website's search and optional analytics. Send only the information needed for us to help; do not email passwords, private model data or other people's personal information.
Operational information and retention
We rely on legitimate interests to deliver and protect the website and respond to enquiries: keeping the publication available, investigating technical problems and handling corrections. Hosting records are controlled by the hosting service's configured logging and security retention; we have not confirmed a fixed period and do not claim one. Enquiry correspondence is kept while needed to resolve the enquiry, follow up a correction or retain a necessary record of the matter. The contact mailbox provider processes correspondence separately from this website. There is no obligation to provide an email address to read the guides.
Your rights and complaints
You can ask Daniel for access to personal information concerning you, correction, deletion or restriction of its use, and portability where applicable. These rights depend on the information and lawful basis. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Withdraw analytics consent through Privacy settings at any time; withdrawal stops future measurement and does not make earlier consented processing unlawful. Contact daniel@djacksondesign.com with a request or concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
The website does not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
